Swine Flue H1 / N1 : measures taken by the French School

 

As of today, The French School of Ljubljana does not have any cases of swine flu.

 

  • If there was a case of swine flu

If a child is diagnozed to have the H1/N1 virus, the school would have to close for 1 week to prevent spreading the virus. The sick child be able to return to school after being checked by a doctor who whill need to write a certificate of good health.

 

In case of closing the school, primary school and high school children will have homeworks and exercices sent by the teachers to perform at home.

 

  • Measures taken since september to prevent getting the swine flu

The children often wash their hands. They learn how to cough and sneeze (cover their mouth and nose with their sleeve or disposable tissue). School toys and supplies are often washed.

 

The teaching staff is in alert and seeks possible symptoms among the children. If the teachers notices a child presenting symptoms of a flu, this child would immediately be isolated from the group and his/her parents would be informed.

 

  • Parents behaviour

If you are suspecting symptoms, please:

  • - do not bring your child to school
  • - immediately contact your doctor
  • - inform the school if the doctor confirms the virus H1/N1.

If the doctor confirms that your child got the H1N1 virus, he/she must stay at home for a length of 7 days from the 1st signs of the symptoms.

 

  • What are the symptoms ?

In general : fever higher than 38°C, headaches, soreness and pains, fatigue.

Often: sore throat, runny nose, cough, sneezings

Sometimes: diarrhea, vomiting
