At the kindergarten, from 2 to 4 year old pupils receive weekly initiation to Slovenian and English, where they learn songs, poems and rhymes.
In ‘Grande section’ (5 years), Slovenian and English courses are taught 2 hours per week by teachers trained to teach foreign languages to very young ‘students’.
CP to CM2 (1st to 5th grade) pupils continue to take English and Slovenian classes 2 hours a week per language. In order to follow the Slovenian curriculum, 2 hours per week were added outside of school time for the native Slovenian speakers, corresponding to the requirements regarding age and level of Slovenian schools.
The languages provided to middle school pupils, besides Slovenian, which is mandatory, include English, German, Spanish and Italian, and Latin as an option.
